Sarah Whittaker wins national award

sarahwh1.jpgSarah Whittaker, founder and managing director of Phoenix Homeopathy, has beaten health practitioners nationwide to win a UK national Complementary & Alternative Medicine (CAM) Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Community. She collected her award and her £1,000 prize at The Metropole, Brighton on 11 March 2007.

Sarah impressed the judges with her support for students, trainees and local homeopaths. She was awarded first prize in the Outstanding Contribution to the Community category for her work in three key areas:

  • The Phoenix Student Sponsorship Scheme: where income from the Phoenix clinic contributed towards the expensive tuition fees of deserving local trainee homeopaths for the four-year Licentiate training course at local homeopathy colleges.
  • The Phoenix Internship Scheme: a scheme through which Sarah helped final year and newly qualified homeopaths develop their skills and build their practices.
  • Founding and running the BrightHom homeopathic network, a local non-profit making support network for Sussex homeopaths, helping to take care of those who work tirelessly to help others.

Commenting on her achievement, Sarah said:

The CAM Awards are highly respected in the industry. Last year, we were thrilled to be highly commended for the Outstanding Practice category, making us one of the top three natural health practices nationwide. This year, my team and I are delighted to have won an award. Fostering links with local homeopaths and investing time and money in training future homeopaths is key to developing our industry in a professional manner. It’s great to be recognised for our hard work and ground breaking initiatives in this area.”
